The story of “This Raya updates”
Assalamualaikum all. Selamat Hari Raya…Maaf Zahir & Batin.
It’s been an eventful 10 days holidays for me. Time to recharge my batteries, to relax & think about what I’ve done & whta’s in store for the future. A lot of things also happens…in which I will tell you in a moment
First day of Raya was at my grandma’s house in Klang. We visit our late sister’s grave earlier in the morning before the solat sunat Aidil Fitri. Raya is not the same for adults & kids…..I used to be very excited because of the “Marhaban” in which the whole kampung visited almost all the houses in turns. We get to sample a wide variety of food and collect the duit raya…Now its the other way round. I’m the one who has to give duit raya to the younger generations.
Adil & Fakhri at the graveyard
Big bro Azzam with my only niece Wafaa’ (aka Waffles)
At granma’s house I eat ketupat, masak lodeh, rendang daging & serunding…yum!
And at Mak Ngah’s house gotta eat the special Laksa Johor (with spaghetti)
The second day, the family went back to Kuala Terengganu…to Tok Ma’s house for 4 days….This year is a bit quiter because only 3 out of 7 siblings (of my father) was in KT..the others balik kampung a bit later.
My cousin’s sons & daughters are simply adorable (at least when they are not screaming or throwing tantrum..hehe)
Waffles in one of her playful mood….
Tok Ngah (my tok saudara) is 94 years old! and he can walk normally (just a bit slow only)
We also visit the Crystal Mosque
The 4 generations
Apart from visiting relatives, the photographer in me yearns for nature shoot coz I’ve been very busy shooting portraits & events..I kinda neglect shooting nature. Every morning we take a stroll down Pantai Batu Buruk (Batu Buruk Beach)…..
Don’tcha think the picture looks lovely?
I set with bro Syahrin Aziz for a little outing to Rantau Abang, some 60km away from Kuala Terengganu
The gentle breeze, swaying coconut tree and clear sea…..definitely heaven on earth
Bro syahrin busy taking video
I combined 5 pictures for this one. Pantai Kuala Abang as seen from the sea
My new Raya Crocs (with dollar sign & thunderflash)
Kuala Dungun (my childhood growing place….)
An annual thing to do in KT is the TT session. Teh Tarik Sessions are synonymous with photographers. A time to sit down and relax, share information and chat about anything under the sun. But being photographers…the bulk of the talk is about gears, experience, recent jobs, techniques etc etc
Syahrin editing pics drew a large crowd
What’s so special about the 5DMKII? Didiz & Syahrin Aziz
My turn to godek2 the 5DMKII….I still prefer my D700 hahaha…
L-R Markless (D700), Dr Jamal (D3) & Engku (D3)…All Nikon Full Frame user
10 days after leaving my bachelor pad for the holidays, we found out thieves had broken into the house and my room had been ransacked..
Front door door hinge is cut cleanly… a pro job?
They took a metal rod and smash my door knob
Luckily I bring home my cameras, laptop, cash money and other valuables. The only thing they took is my Nike Air Force One (Still looks new, wore it less than 10 times) & cash money in my piggybank (about RM30). Reported it to the police and Sargeant Pauzi (the investigating officer) came and search for fingerprints…but to no avail. This is a job by seasoned thieves. They wore gloves and they only search for money or small things they can sell fast.
Thats why they leave my 80-200mm f2.8, 24mm f1.8 lenses.. hard disks & expensive crumpler & think tank bags….maybe they didn’t know the value..thank god!
Its the 3rd year in a row I bought a nike shoe and the shoe is stolen from the same house….haih…curse of the Nike shoe?
