The Story of “Candid Street Shoot & Perkad 2009”
Assalamualaikum all. I’m in the middle of finishing several albums, editing several events, doing accounting works for the company & preparing for the holy month of Ramadhan. Due to the numerous shooting assignments I did last week, I had to quickly upload them before I get lazy and forget all about the pics that I took.
As a continuous learning programme for myself and other enchantedFOREST crew, me, fariz & Azfar joined an outdoor street shoot organized by Chot. The location is Pasar Borong Selayang (Selayang Wholesale Market). Fish, Meat, Poultry, Vegetables, Egg & other food ingredients can be found here. Around 30+ of us photographers were present. With a cool t-shirt designed by the organizers (Chot & Eshazli), we scatter around the market for around 2 hours in search of interesting subjects.
I decided to play around with my D90+85mm f1.8 lens only. And in-camera B&W conversion. All the pics here is lightly enhanced in Photoshop (crop, level, curve & sharpen, a bit of burn & dodge).

On Sunday, a marching competition was held at UiTM Shah Alam. All the faculties send out a platoon lead by their commander for the annual PERKAD (Pertandingan Kawad). After 2 years of not attending, this year I make it a priority to attend. My juniors from Faculty of Computer Science & Mathematics won first place in the Kawad Kaki (Marching) event! Last year they get second place. So its a good progression. During my time in 1999-2005 I can still remember it was damn hard to get top 3 placing because the standard is so high. Congratulations to my dear juniors. Gotta keep it up for next year.
I’ve not shoot an outdoor event for quite some months. So, I shoot the competition (second half only) as if I’m the official photographers. Just my way of giving back to the organization that shape me into the man I am now. (I’m one of the high ranking commander back then, terrorizing juniors with my sharp tongue & eagle eye which can spot any mistake even from afar! Hahaha..those days were fun!)
It rained hard 30 mins after I arrive
