The story of “Asera & Fazrul Sanding + My Nikon wishlist + old updates”
Assalamualaikum all. Greeting from the unorganized photographer, currently fixing the mess he created by NOT doing work by the schedule….hehehe..
Fist & foremost, one of my picture of Mount Kinabalu was used here –> Climbing mount Kinabalu. What a pleasant surprise. Most of my picture in my own flickr page was under the creative commons. That means anybody can use my picture for non-profit purposes. Earlier this year one of my picture of a graduate was featured in the yahoo main page! Sharing is caring rite?
For photography wannabes, read THIS, 78 photography tips for complete idiots..really funny stuff. My fav was the “When shooting, remember to take off the lens cap”.
As a continuation of Asera & Fazrul’s wedding, HERE are the pics from the reception. For this blog entry I’m just gonna put in pictures from the post wedding shoot. We went to the nearby Pantai Kelanang. The same location during Asiah & Aizat’s wedding in May. The weather was very nice, not so harsh sunlight, a lot of cool background & my trusty primes (24mm & 85mm).
I treated all the pictures with Totally Rad Actions (I & II: The Revenge) & also some Kubota actions.
The before+after series were posted at my personal flickr page HERE.
Among the actions used were: Lights out, clarify, Boutwell’s magic glass, cross processed #2, Grandma’s Tap shoe, Dirt bag (texture), Ying & Yang, Slice like a ninja & other actions. The key is to experiment & improvise. More to come later!
I’m an ardent reader of the NikonRumours.com website. As the tag says “When there’s smoke, there’s fire”.
Apparently someone got hold of a (rumoured but looks authentic) Nikon Roadmap 2009-2010, a list of things to come in this 2 years. The list contains a lot of shocker, wish list of Nikon users which includes camera updates (D300s, D700x), next generation cameras (D4 & D400), Lens update (both primes & zoom).
For me, next year could be the year I jump out from DX land (that’s crop factor camera for those unfamiliar with techie terms) into FX (full frame). A D700 cost around RM7500 per body nowadays. next year, with the release of D700x, it could be much more cheaper. Several of my lenses are already Full Frame compliant, no need to upgrade on that.
My next year wish list:
2x D90 body —-> 2x D700 body [Better ISO, faster speed, pro magnesium body)
Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 ultra wide angle —-> AF-S Nikkor 14 to 28 mm f/3.5-4.5G ED
Nikkor 80-200mm f2.8D —-> either retain or buy new AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II
Sigma 24mm f1.8 —> retain
Nikkor 85mm f1.8 —> retain although there would be a new AF-S Nikkor 85mm f1.4G
Could consider buying
AF-S Nikkor 24 to 85 mm f/4G VR —> nice walkaround lens, quite wide, constant aperture, VR included
AF-S DX Nikkor 60 to 95 mm f/2G VR —> could be a substitute for the 85mm, no need for heavy tele
AF-S Nikkor 35 mm f/1.4G —> could complement the 24mm sigma nicely
AF-S Nikkor 50 mm f/1.4G —> already out in the market
As for the present, I’m happy with what I have. Every wedding shoot I only brings my 10-20mm, 24mm & 85mm. Weird for some people, but I don’t have to carry heavy 80-200mm anymore. The focal length can be covered by the 85mm (just crop in Photoshop..hahaha).

Ayda & Faisal, Ayza & Ibrahim’s wedding was held in 1st April 2009 (April Fool’s day). I’m second shooting for my good friend Hafiz Ismail from WOWphoto. Ayda & Ayza were sisters and I’m assigned to cover Ayda+Faisal. For those who watched the famous movie “Gila-Gila Remaja” released 20 years ago, you might notice the slightly chubby member of Azroy’s group. Yup, Faisal is Kuzi. Starring along the young Faizal Hussein & Rosyam Nor.
Here are some of my favorites from the wedding reception.
